Berkeley Castle is opening on Sunday 24th March 2024

Dogs

Regrettably no dogs are allowed in the Castle or grounds, other than assistance dogs.

We also respectfully ask that you do not leave pets unattended in vehicles in the car park as there is limited shade in that area.

2024 tickets are available to purchase online via this website now.

Tickets can also be purchased at the Ticket Office when we are open.

When booking your tickets, you will be asked to choose an arrival time slot. This is not a strict arrival time - it is just a guide to help us know when to expect you. By choosing a time slot and arriving around that time if possible, you help us to manage our capacity and keep queues to a minimum.

Arrival times:

11.00am, 12.00pm, 1.00pm & 2.00pm

If you have any queries, please contact info@berkeley-castle.com

You can now book the Castle for your private events on Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays.

Access

Disabled Access

This is a Norman Castle retaining many of its original features.

As a result, there is limited wheelchair access due to the many steps, staircases and uneven floors throughout the Castle and gardens.

For those who feel the initial 24 stone steps of the Keep may be unmanageable, a shorter route through the Castle is available, avoiding this flight of steps, but other steps and stairs will need to be negotiated.

More information, including maps, can be found here.

If in doubt, please ring the main office on 01453 810303 for advice.

Childrens Pushchairs and Buggies

There is no access to the Grade 1 listed Castle with children's pushchairs or buggies, because of the many steps and uneven floors.

The Guide at the foot of the steps to the Keep will keep an eye on your child's buggy.

If in doubt, please ring the main office for advice.

Health and Safety Advice

This is a mediaeval building. In the gardens there are uneven surfaces, steep terraces, deep water features, steep steps, non-edible plants, low branches, and slippery surfaces in wet weather.

Please don't climb on the cannon, they are very old.

In the Castle there are steep stone steps, uneven and slippery floors, other steps not immediately obvious, low doorways.

Children should always be accompanied while visiting the Castle.
